Autumn & Sophia’s News Report
On Monday we had an Earthquake drill.
On Tuesday we did computer science for the first time this year.
We sat together with Faith Families in Chapel for the first time this year on Wednesday.
On Thursday morning we went to the Kimber’s Classroom dedication.
We are really excited for the long weekend!
For English this week we learned about compound subjects and predicates, as well as compound and complex sentences. This was interesting and cool to learn about. In religion, we went to chapel on Wednesday, and we have been learning about the Tower of Babel. After that we used google translate to learn how they heard each-other after God confused their language. Finally in math, we have been learning how to add, subtract, and multiply decimal numbers. It was fun and a cool way to start off the school year.
For science we had a test on Tuesday. We talked about the ten themes of biology. Also in Social Studies we’ve been working on latitude and longitude. We got our new Social Studies books on Thursday. In Literature, we made an illustrated dictionary on, “The Wounded Wolf” short story. Finally, we started reading, “The Tail” another short story.
Zion Lutheran Junior High Students and Staff
Friday, September 22, 2023
In 2005 with the catastrophe of Hurricane Katrina, Zion Lutheran Junior High Students and Teachers hosted their first Walk-a-thon to raise monetary assistance for these victims. Every year since the first Walk-a-thon, the junior high has hosted a fun afternoon for the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders filled with walking/running, socializing, treats, and a Christ centered goal to share our blessings with others through gathering donations for the cause.
This school year, Zion’s Junior High Students and Teachers annual Walk-a-thon will support Christian Friends of New Americans (CFNA). This faith-based organization’s mission, “Showing God’s Love to Refugees and Immigrants” provides housing, furniture, employment, English language instruction, education, various programs, and spiritual and religious needs by sharing the Story of Jesus. (https://www.cfna-stl.org/).
Your support and partnership would be greatly appreciated.
How can you help?
Please pray for the people in these difficult situations and for our junior high students to feel the call to serve. In addition, your help in raising funds for CFNA would be greatly appreciated. Any amount of donation will go directly to this worthwhile cause.

Noah and Sophia’s
Report about this week!
This is a lot of fun stuff we did this week.
1) In the gym we played volleyball and learned how to pass. It was a lot of fun. Two, in literature we read a fun story about a dragon, and we are currently learning to act it out. In Social Studies, we had a kahoot about the Continents and Oceans. There was a lot of tension, but it was really fun in the end. In English, we learned about simple subjects and predicates. We watched two videos that were really funny including the Mr. Morten one. I love having Miss Dubberke and Mrs. Reminshnider as my teachers. They make learning fun, and they are so nice.
In Science this week, we learned about the scientific method. We are going to do an experiment later today. It was interesting and a good way to start off our science lessons this year. In math, we are learning about decimals, place value, and writing numbers like eight billion, nine hundred seventy-five thousand, one hundred eighty-three in number form. Mainly just refreshing our memory on stuff we had learned about last year. In Religion, we go to chapel every Wednesday. When we don’t have a chapel, we have religion in class. This week during Religion we are mainly learning about the creation story, and how sin began. The teachers make the subjects we are learning about interesting and fun to learn about.
