By Liam & Franklin

This week was full of activities and much more. One fun activity we did in math was a game of war but it was with fractions. We also did around the classroom math studying. In English, we got to make our second poster in words of speech. This time it was a verb poster. In social studies, we learned about the disasters of the world, like tornados and hurricanes, and we also learned about which is more dangerous, how we could warn, and figure out ways to avoid them. In science we learned about food chains and food webs, in fact we did an entire webquest! In art we were making finishing touches on tessellation.

From Miss Dubberke:

I don't know about you all, but this week FLEW by. How are we done with Week 7 already?? We LOVED the Walk-a-thon!

Liam & Clark's News Report of the Week

 Clark and Liam’s News Report

This week we learned about landforms in Social  studies, and we also learned about natural disasters, like volcanoes, earthquakes, and definitely not last but not least, tsunamis! In math we learned about how to divide fractions, and also multiply them not terribly exciting. In English we learned about possessive nouns, singular and plural, and the way Ms.Dubberke teaches, it was super fun. James had a birthday this week and he brought the BEST snacks. We practiced our classroom songs, which lots, and lots of people love, (even though we’re loud) and we learned what to do when someone has a seizure. We had the walk-a-thon and we raised a LOT of money. In art we did tessellations, and those are basically puzzle pieces in a way cooler way than a normal puzzle. We did another art piece called well… “Camo art.” Creative, am I right? It’s basically just three different colors and it's just a mix, not very interesting.

This week in science we learned about food chains and animal adaptations. In Literature we were studying for our test  on our stories. Our test was on Southpaw, Becky and the Wheels and Brake Boys, Greyling, and Dragon, dragon. In religion we learned about Jacob and Easau. We also learned about Jacob and his 12 sons. How he gave his multicolored coat and his brothers hated him.

On monday we had gym, so in gym class we played a game with big cups and you tried to knock them over and blue team won the most, but congratulations to both teams! On throwback thursday we saw a picture of Ms. Dubberke on her first day of sixth grade. We also went to library to read.

From Miss Dubberke:

What a fun week we had in 6th grade! We are officially at mid-quarter, which means mid-quarter grades will be out soon. Make sure to keep checking Sycamore, and contact your child's teacher if you have any questions about their grade. It has been a joy to teach your child!
