Photos of the Week!

Micah & James' News Report of the Week

 NEWS REPORT WEEK 10

By Micah Strueter and James Sadler

In Religion we started to read Luther and had a first quarter memory quiz.  Studying Social we started religious belief from different countries. We had a test in science and the next day we had a test in literature. In the first quarter A.R Was due wednesday. The fun thing this week was Red ribbon week. Monday was neon day, Tuesday was sports day, Wednesday was crazy hair day, Thursday was pajama day, and Friday was pink/red out day.

A note from Miss Dubberke:

We are officially done with Q1! That FLEW by! It has been a joy to teach your kids and see them grow throughout the time we have already had. I cannot wait to see what they will accomplish with the rest of the year. Thank you for your continued prayers over our school year.

Just a reminder there is no school on Thursday and Friday. Thursday will be parent-teacher conferences. If you have not signed up for a time to meet with me, please do so. Along with that, if you have not filled out the survey for the conferences that was emailed out, please complete that before our conference time in order for us to have an efficient and effective conference.

If you scroll down, you will see information about our next field trip! Please let me know if you are interested in driving.

New Field Trip Coming Soon!

 Great Wolf Sanctuary Field Trip

6th Grade is going on another field trip! On November 17, we will be headed to the Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka, MO. This trip will be quicker than the last one, as it will only be a half day trip. We will depart from campus around 8:15 and arrive at the center around 8:45. The tour and investigation will run about 2 hours long, so we will be back at Zion around 11:30. This allows us to have time in the afternoon for our upcoming Advent Service.

We are on the hunt for field trip drivers! If you would like to volunteer to drive for this trip, please let Mrs. R or Miss D know, along with how many students you can fit in your car! We appreciate all of your help, as we could not do this without you. If you did not drive for the last field trip and would like to drive for this one, you will be our first pick! We want to give all our parents a chance to go on a 6th grade field trip if you want to. Thank you again!

Hark - The Students Lead Advent Worship!

Angel Playing Trumpet Stock Illustrations – 172 Angel Playing Trumpet Stock Illustrations, Vectors & Clipart - Dreamstime

On Wednesday, November 29  at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m, grades 5 and 6 will lead the

first Advent worship services at Zion Church.  This is a wonderful opportunity for

our students as they help our congregation prepare for the Lord's coming.

Attendance is expected at both services, so please mark your calendars now and keep the date open.  Let me know of any

conflicts right away as parts will be assigned soon. We are eager to begin preparations

for leading worship as Advent will be here before we know it.

During the coming weeks, all students will learn songs selected to reinforce their

message.  Students will also have opportunities to try various roles in the service,

such as special drama, music, or “behind the scenes” parts.  Part of our Memory

Work assignments will shift focus to learning songs and lines.  Students who play

instruments will also have an opportunity to share their special musical talents.

Please note:

1.       Students must be taking weekly lessons with a private instructor

2.       Students must not be beginners – they should already be fairly accomplished at their

instruments

3.       Music should be from religious Advent or Christmas repertoire

4.       Students should speak with their private lesson teacher about choosing a piece

5.    Pieces must be PRACTICED and students be prepared to audition the second week of

November.

Franklin & Micah's News Report

 News Report Week 8

By Micah & Franklin

This week was full of fun projects. For Literature we had a fun book called The Circuit. We drew a picture of the scene of your choice. In Science we got to draw an illustration of primary and secondary succession. In Social Studies we did a partner project with extreme weather. In English we had a slide show presentation that was about as if we were the teacher. In Art we made a camo Picture with an animal of your choice to camouflage. Then the best part is our field trip to Weldon Springs and Harvest Lanes Bowling Alley.

A note from Miss D:

We had SO much fun Friday going to Weldon Springs and then bowling! Thank you again to the parents that offered up their time to be able to make this happen. There were so many pictures taken, we made an album. To access the pictures from the trip, click Google photo album . If there are photos you took on the trip, you can add them as well! As the quarter is wrapping up, please remind your student to continue reading towards their A.R. goals. If you have any questions, please let me know.
